A CHAPEL CANDLE BURNS FOR YOU

I lit a candle for you today,

It's not very much to do;

But when I lit the candle bright,

I said a prayer for you.

The flame first flickered, then it flared,

It burned bright on its own;

And in the darkness of this world,

Just one more light has shone.

It wasn't really very much,

This candle bright and true:

To strike a match and light a flame,

And add my prayer for you.

And when I saw how great the glow

From all the candles there,

My heart rejoiced for I knew well,

Each was a constant prayer.

So many others joined with mine,

These flames of faith and love;

So many brilliant prayers of faith,

Ascending high above.

Just one small light, it isn't much;

Joined with the others there,

They bring us joy and fill our hearts,

For each one is a prayer.

I know it isn't very much,

This simple thing we do;

But in this candle lit today,

I said a prayer for you.  

These intentions are submitted for you to remember in your prayer requests.  The candle burns to remind us that our prayers, like the flame and light of candles, ascend to the Throne of Heaven.
